In continuation of her inquiry into Rohingya situation, UN rights envoy Yanghee Lee is visiting a newly built slum in Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar today.

The special rapporteur went there around 9:30am and was talking to the stranded Rohingyas as last reported, our local staff correspondent reports.

Yesterday, Lee visited another Rohingya slum at Paschim Balukhali with a population of around 7,000.

After her visit in Bangladesh, Lee will issue a statement on her experience. She will present a report on Myanmar at the UN Human Rights Council on March 13 with her opinion on the situation of human rights and recommendations to the Myanmar government.

Lee arrived in Dhaka on Monday on a three-day visit. She earlier visited Myanmar on January 9 to 21. At that time, she visited Rakhine and Kachin states. During the visit, Lee also met Myanmar State Counsellor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi and other top government officials.
