Two surveyors of DC office jailed

Two surveyors of the deputy commissioner's office in the district were jailed for taking bribe on Sunday.

The convicts are Md Khalilur Rhaman, 38, and Atikur Rhaman, 52, surveyors of land acquisition branch of Faridpur DC office.

A mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Md Motiur Rhaman Khan, sentenced them to six months' imprisonment each.

Khalilur and Atikur demanded Tk 9 lakh from some residents of Phulbari area in Shaltha upazila with a promise of getting them Tk 39 lakh as compensation for their land acquired by the DC office for widening Badharpur-Shaltha road, said sources at the DC office. 

The two were caught red handed while taking Tk 3 lakh as bribe in Faridpur town around 4:00pm on Sunday, said the magistrate.
