Two Rohingya women held in B'baria

Police detained two Rohingya women from Kautuli bus stand area in the town on Monday night.

The detainees are Hosne Ara, 20, daughter of Md Hashem, and Shuktara Nipa, 20, daughter of Md Harun, of Mongdu district in Myanmar. They speak in Myanmar language.

Seeing their suspicious movement, locals informed the police.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Brahmanbaria Detective Branch of Police S M Quamruzzaman said they were detained in front of Rajdhani Hotel in Kautuli bus stand area. 

The women confessed that they were fleeing from Cox's Bazar Jaziara Rohingya camp and going to Dhaka to try to get Bangladeshi passports.

They will be sent to Jaziara Rohingya camp in Teknaf under police protection, the OC said.
