Two murdered

Two people were murdered in the district yesterday.

A Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinee was killed allegedly by his younger brother at village Purura Narangipara in Bhaluka upazila.

The victim was Bahar Uddin, 18, son of Helal Uddin Bala of Purura Narangipara. He was appearing in this year's HSC examinations from Trishal Bhaluka Moitree College.

Police and family sources said Bahar's younger brother seventh grader Azhar Uddin was absent from his school for last three days.

As Bahar asked Azhar why he did not go to school, an altercation began between the siblings around 1:30pm.

At one stage, Azhar attacked Bahar with a sharp weapon, injuring him critically.

He was rushed to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex immediately where the doctors declared him dead.

Azhar went into hiding since the incident.

Meanwhile, a youth was hacked to death allegedly by his rivals at village Belaboo in Gafargaon upazila.

The victim was Shaheen Hossain, 28, son of Mukbul Hossain of Belaboo.

OC Muklesur Rahman Akanda of Pagla Police Station said there was a longstanding conflict between Shaheen and his uncle Sairat Ali over a land.

As a sequel to the conflict, Shaheen locked in an altercation with Sairat and the latter's son Rakib Mia.

At one stage, the duo started hacking Shaheen with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot, said the police official.
