Two killed are JMB men

The two criminals killed in a shootout with police in Madhupur of Tangail on Sunday were identified yesterday as members of militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

They are Moksedul Islam alias Mozammel alias Hares, 35, son of Abul Kalam Azad of Paschim Raghabpur village under Saghata upazila of Gaibandha, and Mahfuzur Rahman alias Sohel alias Shubho alias Sujon alias Joy, 28, son of late Mizanur Rahman of Andariapara Kanaipar village under Phulbaria upazila of Mymensingh.

Moksedul was a suicide squad member of JMB and husband of Rozina Begum, one of the three female JMB members arrested, along with her two children, from a rented house at Jokarchar village under Kalihati upazila of Tangail on July 5. Mokchhedul, along with his wife and children was disconnected from his family for the last one year, police said.

Mahfuzur was an absconding accused in Chittagong in 2011 and husband of Rumana Akhter, one of the four female JMB members arrested from Sirajganj on July 23. He left his village about three years ago, police said.
