Two Dinajpur BCL men, Sirajganj AL activist arrested with drugs

Law enforcers arrested four ruling party activists and seized from their possession 200 Yaba pills, 10 bottles of Phensidyl and a firearm in Pabna and Sirajganj during the last two days.

The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested a local Awami League leader with 200 Yaba tablets and a Jubo League leader with a one-shooter gun and two bullets in separate drives in Sirajganj's Solonga early yesterday, reports our Pabna correspondent.

The arrestees are Md Nasir Uddin, 45, of Dadanpur village, and Arman Ali, 35, of Golokpur village in Solonga.

Nasir Uddin, secretary of Awami League's Hatikumrul union unit in Solonga, is a drug trader while Arman Ali, secretary of Hatikumrul union unit of Jubo League, is involved in crimes, said Waheduzzaman, officer in charge (OC) of Solonga Police Station.

Rab handed the arrestees over to police yesterday noon.

After filing of cases, they were sent to jail through the court, the OC said. 

Our Dinajpur correspondent reports: Police arrested two leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) with 10 bottles of Phensidyl in Phulbari upazila of the district on Wednesday night.

The arrestees are Minhazul Islam Babu, 28, of Mozaffarnagar village under Parbatipur upazila, and Raisul Islam Sohel 30, of Dupipara village under Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur.

Minhazul Islam is president of Parbatipur municipality BCL unit while Raisul Islam Sohel was former vice president of Parbatipur upazila BCL.

A police team led by Phulbari Police Station OC Sheikh Nasim Habib arrested the two and seized 10 bottles of Phensidyl from their possession at Debipur village in the upazila around 8:30pm on Wednesday.

Police filed a case against the arrestees and they were sent to jail through a court yesterday.

Sources of the police station said the police are under tremendous political pressure to release the two arrestees.
