2 bodies recovered from Sylhet hotel

The bodies of a young man and a woman were recovered from a hotel room in Sobhanighat area of Sylhet city last night.

The deceased -- Mintu Deb, 26 of Jagannathpur upazila in Sunamganj and Rakhi Paul, 25 of Jaintapur upazila in Sylhet -- checked into Meherpur Hotel yesterday afternoon identifying themselves as husband and wife.

Rakhi’s body was found lying on bed while Mintu’s body was hanging from the ceiling of room No. 206 of Hotel Meherpur, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting Gousul Alam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.

Both the bodies have been sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the officer-in-charge said adding that they have recovered a note the room but the police official did not elaborate on it.

Mohammad Abdul Wahab, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, said the police suspect that the man killed the woman and then committed suicide.
