Truck-van strike in north called off

Owners and labourers of the truck and van have withdrawn strike after two days of abstention in the northern region after assurance that their demands will be met.

Local authorities extended the assurance today, our Bogra correspondent reports quoting Md Abdul Mannan Akanda, local president of Truck Owners’ Association.

Truck, Lorry, Covered Van and Pick-up Van Owners and Labourers Oikya Parishad enforced the strike across 16 northern districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions on Sunday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Raihana Islam had said they will sit with the truck and covered van owners and workers today to resolve the issue.
