Tourist goes missing at sea in Kuakata

A tourist went missing at the sea while swimming off the beach at Kuakata this afternoon.

The victim was identified as Sohag Rahman, 30, hailing from Savar, reports our Patuakhali correspondent quoting office-in-charge of local Tourist Police Md Moniruzzaman.

He and his two friends Sohag and Mohsin were swimming at sea around 2:00pm when they were hit by a big wave. His friends were rescued by locals and were hospitalised, the OC said.

Divers from Patuakhali Fire Service was trying to rescue the victim. Tourist police, coast guard and locals were also searching the horizon with fishing trawlers, he said.

Sohag works in a private construction farm named ‘Green House Construction and Consultation’ as a civil engineer in Kuakata. His two friends went to visit him two days ago.
