Just several hours of rain crippled the life in Dhaka today as different parts of the capital went under ankle to knee-deep water, thanks to poor drainage system.

Sixty-two millimeter rainfall was recorded in Dhaka, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The rain may continue, said an officer at the Met Office. “We’ll let you know tomorrow morning whether there will be rain on Eid day.”

Although the city dwellers were expecting rainfall to cope with the sultry weather that prevailed for the last several days, they have now been frustrated due to the waterlogging.

Vendors are the worst sufferers of the waterlogging.

The roads in different parts of the city like Karwan Bazar, Kathalbagan, West Shewrapara, Dhanmondi, Noyapaltan, Fakirapool, Rajabazar, Shantinagar, behind the Bangabhaban, different parts of Old town and Hazaribagh were the worst affected areas.

Many vehicles were seen to be out of order due to waterlogging at different points.
