Tiger kills honey collector in Sundarbans

A honey collector was killed in an attack by a tiger in Dingamari canal under Satkhira range of the Sundarbans early Monday.

Masudul Alam, former chairman of Gabura Union Parishad in Shyamnagar upazila, said victim Ruhul Amin Sheikh, 35, and his brother Hossain Sheikh, sons of Malek Sheikh of Chandnimukha village, went to the deep forest for collecting honey early in the morning.

At one stage, a tiger swooped on Ruhul Amin and dragged him into the deep forest, he said.

Hossain Sheikh sustained injuries while trying to save his brother.

Later the forest officials recovered the body of Ruhul and rescued Hossain from the forest.
