Three men to die

A Kushtia court yesterday sentenced three people to death for killing a freedom fighter over land dispute at Goalgram village in Daulatpur upazila of the district in 2012.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Reza Mohammad Alamgir Hossain passed the order in presence of the convicts.

The convicts are Abdul Hamid Maltha, 30, Salam Sheikh, 32, and Jamil Mandal, 30. Public Prosecutor advocate Anup Kumar Nandi said the convicts killed freedom fighter Khabir Uddin on the night of February 7 in 2012 when he was visiting his cropfield.

Khabir's wife Urzina Begum filed a case against the three with Daulatpur Police Station on February 8 in 2012. Police arrested them the same day.
