Three get life for keeping drugs

A court here yesterday sentenced three people to life term imprisonment for keeping narcotics.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Ziaur Rahman handed down the verdict in presence of the accused.

The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer three months more rigorous imprisonment.

The convicts are Shahedul alias Mohobul, 25, son of Kuddus Ali, Mohammad Jentu, 30, son of Moslem Ali, and Yeasin Ali, 24, son of Rahman Ali of Shialmara village in Shibganj upazila.

According to the prosecution, members of Department of Narcotics Control arrested Shahedul, Jentu and Yeasin and recovered 85 bottles of Phensidyl from their possession in Sonamasjid land port area on August 3 in 2013.

Narcotics Control Department Inspector Lutfar Rahman pressed charges against them on October 25 the same year.
