Teenager 'kills' himself in correction centre
Another found murdered in Jessore
A teenage boy of Jessore Juvenile Development Centre allegedly committed suicide while another was found murdered at Pulerhat on Wednesday.
The deceased were Masud Hossain, 14, inmate of Jessore Juvenile Development Centre and son of Rabiul Islam of Kanchanpur village in Jhenidah's Maheshpur upazila; and carpenter Anwarul Islam Anar, 15, son of Alamgir Gazi of Pulerhat area under the PS.
Mohammad Shahabuddin, assistant director of Jessore Juvenile Development Centre, said Masud took his life by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of a room on the first floor of the centre around 7:45pm.
The boy was sent to the centre in a theft case on June 26 this year, he said.
An unnatural death case was filed with Jessore Kotwali Police Station, said Executive Magistrate Anisur Rahman.
Meanwhile, father of victim Anar said his son was abducted on Tuesday by some miscreants following a feud over a piece of land.
Sub-Inspector Sukumar Kundu of Jessore Kotwali Police Station said, informed by locals, police recovered the body from the river Mukteswari at night.
They arrested one Mizan in this connection, the SI said, adding that a case was filed in this regard.
