10 injured as Sust students, locals clash in front of campus

Ten people including a police constable were injured as students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) and locals clashed in front of the campus today.

Some of the injured students and locals received treatment at Osmani Medical College and Hospital, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting Officer-in-charge of Jalalabad Police Station Shafiqul Islam.

The students started a sit-in of the Sylhet-Sunamganj road in front of their campus around 10:00am protesting incidents of mugging on the route, the official said.

Finding the road blocked for an hour, frustrated locals protested and broke into a clash with the students.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control around 12:40pm.
