Sust reduces entry test fees amid protest

The authorities of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) today decided to reduce the fees of admission test for 2016-17 academic session amid protest.

The academic council of the university took the decision in a meeting this afternoon, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting Prof AHM Belayeth Hussain, member secretary of the admission test committee.

The fees for the admission registration were between Tk 1000 and Tk 1200 for different units which were between Tk 750 and Tk 900 last year.

Now the fees for ‘A’ unit and ‘B1’ unit have been reduced to Tk 800 from Tk 1000 while Tk 900 from Tk 1200 for ‘B2’ unit, he said.

The students of the university have been demonstrating on the campus since October 12 demanding reduction of the additional admission fees.

The admission test for the 2016-17 academic session is scheduled to be held on November 26.
