Stalker sent to jail

A court here yesterday sent a stalker to jail when police produced him before it on charge of assaulting a female madrasa girl and the superintendent of the madrasa. 

The arrestee, Russel Jomadder, 28, is son of Sobahan Jommader and brother of local Union Parishad Member Abdul Hai Jomadder.

Russel was arrested on Wednesday,” said Indurkani Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nasiruddin.

The girl alleged that Russel was disturbing her for the last few days. He went to her madrasa and called her out before classes on Wednesday morning, she added.

Russel beat up the girl in front of the madrasa gate, saying that she showed him a shoe a few days ago.

As madrasa Superintendent Shahidul Islam went to save the girl, Russel also beat him up. The girl's relatives took her to Pirojpur Sadar Hospital for treatment.

“Russel is a stalker in the area. He was disturbing the girl for the last few days, expressing his so-called love for her. As she did not pay any heed to him, he beat her up in front of us,” Shahidul said, adding that Russel beat him up too as he went to save the girl.

Russel came out of jail around six months ago after serving two years for beating his father, he added.

Students of the madrasa and locals formed a human chain at Jomaddar Haat demanding punishment to Russel.
