SSC examinee among 2 killed in Mymensingh road crashes

Two people including a female SSC examinee were killed in separate road accidents in Mymensingh today.

The SSC candidate, Merina Nokrek, 15, died on the spot after her scarf wrapped with the wheel of a human hauler on her way to home in Dasharpar area of Haluaghat upazila around 1:30pm, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.

Merina, daughter of Ganak Majhi of Pubo Gubrakura village of the upazila, was an SSC examinee from Haluaghat Model High School, said Md Abdul Haque, officer-in-charge of Haluaghat Police Station.

In another accident, a bus driver was killed and at 16 others were injured when the driver lost control over the steering and fell into a ditch at Mehrabari in Bhaluka upazila.

The victim, Babu Miah, 28, of Sherpur, died on the spot around 12:00pm, said Maruf Rahman, a sub-inspector of Bhuraduba Highway Police in Bhaluka.

Of the injured, four were shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) while others were admitted at Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex, he added.

Police seized the vehicles.

Separate cases were lodged with respective police stations.
