Skeletons stolen from graveyard

Thieves stole skeletons from a graveyard in Mirzapur upazila of the district between Sunday night and early yesterday.

Locals said they found nine graves dug and five skeletons stolen from the graveyard at Baniara village in Jamurki union yesterday.

A panicky situation was prevailing among the villagers over the incident, said Montu Mia.

Mirzapur Police Station  Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mizanul Haque said they sent an officer to investigate the matter.

Organised gangs of thieves have been active in stealing skeletons from graveyards and selling those to different buyers, including buyers from medical colleges and hospitals, at high prices, the OC added.
