Six get life for abduction

A Joypurhat court on Sunday sentenced six people, including a woman, to life imprisonment in connection with a case for abducting a boy for ransom in 2011.

The convicts are Ferdaus Hossain, Abdul Kader, Soymuddin Mia, Ibrahim Hossain, Abdur Rahim and Fahmida Begum. They all hail from different villages in Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra.

Of them, Ibrahim and Rahim were tried in absentia. 

Joypurhat Additional District and Sessions Judge Dr Mohammad Abdul Mazid also fined the convicts Tk 20 lakh each. In default, they are to suffer two years more in jail.
