Signal no 3 at ports, rain likely

A deep convection taking place over the northern Bay of Bengal has prompted the Met office to hoist cautionary signal no three at the coastal areas.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal no 3, the Met office said in a bulletin today.

All fishing boats and trawlers over northern Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

Meanwhile, the Met office has forecast of light to moderate rain, which can grow to moderately heavy falls, at places throughout the country including capital Dhaka.

Met office says, the axis of monsoon trough runs through Panjab, Madhaya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh.

One of its associated troughs extends up to northeast Bay.
