Ferry services on the Shimulia-Kawrakandi route in the Padma river resumed after nine hours' disruption caused by dense fog this morning.

The ferry service had been kept suspended on the Shimulia-Kawrakandi route from 12:00am to 9:00am due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, Khaled Newaz, assistant general manager of BIWTA.

Ferries loaded with vehicles remained stranded at Shimulia and Kawrakandi ferry ghats. Five ferries stayed stranded in the mid river due to fog obscured visibility.

About 500 vehicles, including buses, trucks and cars, lay stranded along with several hundred passengers on both ends of the important route and in the mid-river.
