Shift exam date

Honours final year students of Comilla Government Victoria College, Comilla Government College and Comilla Government Women's College staged a demonstration in the town yesterday, demanding changing in the routine of their final examinations under National University.

The examination is scheduled for February 20, said the students.

Police later dispersed the demonstrators from Dharmapur rail gate around 11:00am and detained at least 12 students from the spot. However, they were released later, said Officer-in-Charge Abu Salam Mia of Sadar Police Station.

The agitating students then held a rally on the premises of Victoria College to press home their demand, said the OC.

Prof Ratan Kumar Saha, vice-principal of Victoria College, said the university authorities have fixed the date of examinations while courses are yet to be completed.

He has already informed the higher authority about the matter but no positive response has come as yet, said the principal.
