Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today called upon the deputy commissioners (DCs) to act sincerely for sending new textbooks to the students across the country smoothly on the very first day of the next academic session.

“No matter whichever party comes to power, you (DCs) should act properly so that students across the country get new textbooks at the right time,” Nahid told reporters after emerging from a meeting with the DCs at the Secretariat in Dhaka this evening.

The education ministry and all education boards have already initiated some measures in sending the new textbooks to the students without any hindrance, he added.

Appreciating the DCs previous roles in sending the new textbook to the students timely, Nahid said his government has sought all out cooperation from the DCs so that the primary, secondary and other examinations are held in the country in a fair manner.

“We sought all out corporation from the DCs so that the immoral activities like question paper leak during examinations cannot take place,” he said.

During the meeting, the DCs talked about shortage of teachers and many vacant posts at different educational institutions across the country, for which smooth education of the students is being hampered.

“We have assured them in solving the problem as soon as possible,” Nahid added.
