As part of tightened security measures, paramilitary force deployed at Sylhet’s Osmani airport and Chittagong’s Shah Amanat International Airport.

Paramilitary Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was deployed at Osmani airport from this evening, Mohsin Reza, BGB’s public relations officer, told The Daily Star.

Meanwhile, BGB’s dog squads were put at Chittagong airport to sniff out explosives and narcotics, our local correspondent reports quoting the airport’s manager.

“The measure has been taken considering the overall situation of the country,” Wing Commander Riajal Kabir, manager of the airport, said. “They will remain until further notice.”

The deployment comes in view of a series of incidents that took place in the country – the latest being the attacks on book publishers that killed one.

Earlier last month and the month before, two foreigners were murdered, one man was killed in bomb attack on Shia Muslims and a pastor escaped an attempt on his life.
