School gets teacher after Star report

The authorities posted an assistant teacher to Elbintila Government Primary School in Juri upazila under the district on Thursday, to ease teachers' crisis at the school run by the headmaster as the lone teacher for a year.

The prompt move followed a Daily Star report headlined “Lone teacher for 200 kids!” published the same day.

"We have placed assistant teacher Md Babor Miah at Elbintila Government Primary School on deputation from Alipur Government Primary School," said Rajen Kumar Saha, Juri upazila education officer (acting).

“We feel happy to get a new teacher at Elbintila school. For this, we are thankful to The Daily Star for its report," said Md Foyaz Ali, Phultola UP chairman. "But four teachers are needed to manage classes of 200 students," he said.
