School boy drowns in Turag river

An eighth grader drowned in Turag river in Dhaka today.

Rajon Mia, 14, along with his three other friends, went to the river around 1:30pm near Uttara sector 10, Ashikur Rahman, station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Tongi, said.

They all went in for a bath but Rajon was caught in a strong current. All his mates managed to swim ashore, but Rajon went missing.

Fire Service and Civil Defence and officials from the department recovered the body around 2:45pm. Ashikur said.
