SC tells Fakhrul to explain judiciary comment

The Supreme Court asks BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to give explanation for a comment on judiciary.

The BNP leader will have to submit his explanation by February 22.

Different newspapers reported that Fakhrul, while addressing a party meeting in Sylhet on February 7, alleged that the government was trying to control the judiciary.

The apex court asked the explanation during hearing on three bail petitions filed by Fakhrul in cases filed over arson and vandalism. The bench fixed February 22 to pass order in the pleas.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam plead to the top court to issue a guideline for the media to curb any adverse comment on judiciary in talk shows or television channels.
