The Supreme Court today ordered private satellite television channel Ekattor TV to submit the video recording of a report and a talk show on conversation between two judges.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order in a suo moto (on its own) move asking them to submit the videos by August 16.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam has been asked to inform the Ekattor TV authorities about the SC order.

The television on Monday night aired a report and a talk show on the conversation between two judges of the Supreme Court which is a sub-judice matter, the attorney general told reporters.

The top court would examine whether the channel committed any contempt of court by broadcasting the news and hold the talk show on a sub-judice matter, he said.

The SC on Monday held hearing on a contempt of court rule against Janakantha editor and publisher Atiqullah Khan Masud and its Executive Editor Swadesh Roy, who are facign contempt charges for a report on the alleged conversation, and fixed August 13 for delivering verdict on the rule.

During this period, broadcasting report and talk show on a sub-judice matter is tantamount to contempt of court, Alam added.
