SC directs Sylhet pvt medical college to submit financial documents

The Supreme Court today sought for the documents on the bank transactions of Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College Hospital in Sylhet.

The principal of the medical college has been directed to submit the documents to the Appellate Division of the SC by August 31.

The apex court also asked Bangladesh Bank authorities to submit a report on whether Ragib-Rabeya Medical College Hospital has any bank loan to it by August 31.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told The Daily Star that the SC sought the documents to examine whether the medical college and hospital authorities have committed any corruption or financial anomalies in establishing and running the institution.

A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order during a hearing on a petition filed by medical college and hospital authorities.

They filed the petition in June seeking one year time from the SC for relocating the institution.

Earlier in January this year, the SC ordered the authorities to relocate the institution in six months over corruption and anomalies.
