Saraswati Puja, the worshipping of the Hindu Goddess of knowledge, was celebrated across Bangladesh today.

The puja is annually held on the fifth day of the first fortnight of the month of Magh, as believers say Goddess Saraswati was born on this day. The day is called "Vasant Panchami".

As Saraswati is considered the goddess of wisdom and knowledge, Hindu devotees, especially students, are celebrating the puja at different educational institutions and temples.

In the capital, Saraswati Puja was arranged at different places, including Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University and Ramkrishna Mission.

At Jagannath Hall hundreds of students and residents of surrounding areas flocked to observe the day and to pray to the goddess, reports our correspondent from the spot.
