Salt price rumour: Dial 999 if shopkeepers charge extra

The Police Headquarters today requested people to lodged complaint dialling the national emergency number 999 or inform nearby police station if shop owners demand exorbitant price for salt.

The police authority noticed that a group vested quarter is trying to dish out rumours in the people’s minds over salt price in the country, the PHQ said in a press note.

The commerce and information ministries have already ascertained that there is a stock of six lakh tonnes of salt in the country which is the far higher than the country’s demand, the press note said.

In this context, there is no possibility of increasing salt price and so, the people of the country are requested not to hear the rumour and get confused, it said.
