RU student’s body found in campus gutter

A Rajshahi University student’s body was found in the campus’ gutter this morning.

The deceased was identified as Motaleb Hossain Lipu, second year student at the department of Mass Communication and Journalism, our campus correspondent reports.

Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station, said a worker spotted the body in the gutter behind Latif Hall around 8:00am and informed police immediately.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Amir Jafar said Lipu had injury marks behind his head. “We suspect he has been murdered,” he told journalists.

The body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College morgue last reported, said the OC.

Rajshahi University Proctor Prof Mujibul Haque Azad said Lipu, who hailed from Jhenidah, was a resident of room no. 253 of Latif Hall.

Meanwhile, Lipu’s roommate Monirul Islam said he last saw Lipu around midnight. “Lipu asked me to study using a table lamp and then went to sleep,” he told journalists.
