Roommate shown arrested in RU student Lipu murder case

A student of Rajshahi University was shown arrested today in a case filed in connection with the murder of his roommate Motaleb Hossain Lipu, who was found dead on the campus on Thursday.

Lipu’s roommate Monirul Islam, a second-year student of Botany department, was picked up by police on Thursday for interrogation over the incident, reports our Rajshahi correspondent.

Monirul was shown arrested after police found evidence of his involvement with Lipu murder, said Amir Jafar, deputy commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.

Police produced Monirul before a Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Rajshahi showing him arrested in the case this afternoon.

Lipu, 22, was a second-year student of Mass Communication and Journalism department. A staff of the Latif Hall spotted his body in a gutter near Nawab Abdul Latif Hall on Thursday.

A murder case was filed with Motihar Police Station on the same day against unidentified people.
