RU professor murder: Student agitation continues

After their 48-hour ultimatum ended today, students of Rajshahi University staged a sit-in in front of Sabash Bangladesh on the campus demanding immediate arrest of killers of Professor AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee.

Earlier in the morning, they blocked Dhaka-Rajshahi highway for one and a half hours from 11:00am, reports our Rajshahi correspondent.

The blockade on at least one kilometer area halted transport movement on the highway till 12:30 pm.

Prof Siddiquee, a teacher of RU English department, was brutally killed by unknown assailants on Saturday while awaiting transport to go to his workplace.

Law enforcers so far arrested an alleged activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir in connection with the murder one day after the incident.
