'Robber' killed in Ctg 'gunfight'

An alleged robber was killed in a "gunfight" between robbers and Rapid Action Battalion members in Boro Kumira area of Chittagong’s Sitakunda upazila early today.

The deceased is yet to be identified, reports our Chittagong staff correspondent.

A group of armed robbers intercepted a Laksam-bound wedding vehicle in the area and looted valuables injuring 21 people, said Rab-7 Feni Camp Captain Squadron Leader Shafayat Jamil Fahim.

Being informed by the victims, Rab rushed to the spot and found the robbers under the bridge.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire forcing them to retaliate with fire that triggered a gunfight between them, the Rab official said.

After the “gunfight”, the Rab found a bullet-hit body.

The Rab-7 members recovered three firearms, bullets, and a huge amount of looted valuables.

The 21 victims received primary treatment.
