‘Robber’ killed in ‘gunfight’ with Rangpur cops

An alleged robber was killed in what police claimed a gunfight in Rangpur city early today.

The deceased was identified as Razab Ali, 35, from Polashbari upazila of Gaibandha, our Dinajpur correspondent reports quoting Saifur Rahman, additional superintendent of police (Circle A) of Rangpur.

Razab was an accused in 12 separate murder and robbery cases filed with Gaibandha and Rangpur police stations, police said.

Sensing their presence, the robbers fired shots at the police around 4:00am prompting them to retaliate, which left the robber dead on the spot, the police official added.

The other members of the robber gang managed to flee the spot.

A pistol and sharp weapons were recovered from the spot.
