Road march to create awareness on human trafficking

Several development organisations today arranged a road march to create awareness in battling human trafficking, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

Starting from Shanir Akhra around 10:00am the road march will end in Narsingdi, the daily said.

The programme was jointly organised by Bhalobashi Bangladesh, a social platform, Ovibashi Karmi Unnayan Program, (OKUP), Ain O Salish Kendr (ASK) and Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF).

This road march has been organised to create awareness among people about human trafficking, speakers said at a street rally in Kachpur, Narayanganj.

Many died while travelling illegally to foreign countries, in many shelter centres people were spending their lives in inhuman condition, they added.

The state should take the responsibility to make the people understand what is legal and what is not, Dr Hamida Hossain, a noted human rights activist, said.

The State should take stern action against those who put peoples’ lives in danger through human trafficking, she added.
