'Rise High Bangladesh' at KUET

With the promise of promoting fresh and innovative ideas 'Rise High Bangladesh' export idea contest reached Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) campus on August 30. KUET, a beautiful and well-organized campus for studying engineering, looks more beautiful when it rains. And due to rain and examinations, the export idea contest experienced relatively less crowd initially.

However, the scenario dramatically changed at noon, and a good number of students thronged the program area. The venue was decked with banners and posters which contained details of the contest. Moreover, volunteers were present to respond to various queries of the students about the contest.

Students showed their eagerness for participating in the ‘Rise High Bangladesh’contest. The most interesting part of the program was the puzzle-solving game. In this contest, participants were required to pick a clue card, containing export information of a country, and they had to do identify the country in the world map.

Samina Sultana of Electrical and Electronic Department, after winning the puzzle solving contest, expressed happily, "I enjoyed the game thoroughly. It inspired me to learn more about our export destinations."

Khairul Islam, a student of Mechanical Engineering Department showed his deep interest in the export idea contest. He said, ‘We want these types of contests more. Since our campus is far from the capital we find little scope to present ourselves nationally. I have a plan on engineering products which, I hope, will find good response in foreign market."

KUET Students’ welfare Director Dr. Sobhan Mia thanked the Daily Star for taking such a timely initiative. He said, "We can gain a momentum in our export through innovative export ideas.  Our students have the talent. But there is a lack of funding. Public and private enterprises should come forward to inspire the young minds."

KUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir also appreciated the ‘Rise High Bangladesh’ export idea contest. He said, "In modern countries the universities play an important role in idea generation. We should motivate our students to think positively about the country. Media can play a vital role in reaching these young minds."
