Reshuffle in 10 key posts in army

- Maj Gen Md Saiful Abedin new DGFI chief

The government has reshuffled 10 important posts in the Bangladesh Army, including chief of general staff and director general of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).

Maj Gen Md Nazimuddin, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 55 Infantry Division and Jessore Area Commander, has been made Chief of General Staff (CGS) as CGS Lt Gen Sabbir Ahmed is due to go for Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR).

Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) Commandant Maj Gen Md Saiful Abedin has been made Director General of DGFI replacing Maj Gen Mohammad Akbar Hossain.

GOC of 9 Infantry Division and Commander of Savar Area Maj Gen Waqar-uz-Zaman has been replaced by Maj Gen Akbar. Maj Gen Waqar-uz-Zaman has been made Military Secretary (MS).

MS Maj Gen AKM Abdullahil Baquee has been made DSCSC Commandant.

Director of Military Operations Brig Gen Nayeem Ashfaq Chowdhury has been made GOC of 55 Infantry Division and Jessore Area Commander.

Deputy Force Commander of UNAMID Maj Gen Mohammad Maksudur Rahman replaced Maj Gen Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, GOC of the 10 Infantry Division.

Maj Gen Hasan, however, has been made Logistic Area Commander.

Lt Col Mohammad Rashidul Hasan, director of Inter Service Public Relations Directorate (ISPR), confirmed about the reshuffle to The Daily Star.

The government has issued a circular to make the decision effective immediately, he added.
