Eighth grader girl stabbed by stalker, ninth grader beaten by driver
A schoolgirl was stabbed in Chuadanga while another was beaten in Bogura by their stalkers for refusing marriage proposals.
A youth stabbed a schoolgirl for refusing his love proposal at Hazrahati village in Chuadanga Sadar upazila on Tuesday.
Quoting the victim's father, police said Sohel Rana, son of Liakat Ali, had been proposing to his daughter, a Class VIII student, on way to and from her school.
As she refused his repeated proposal, an angry Sohel, a dropout at HSC level, waylaid the girl near a graveyard around 9:00am and stabbed her on the back before fleeing the scene.
Hearing screams, locals rescued the girl and took her to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, police said.
Away in Bogura, a schoolgirl was beaten by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver over her refusal to accept his marriage proposal in Gabtoli upazila yesterday. Local people admitted her to Gabtoli Upazila Health Complex.
Victim's father said Rocky, 25, son of Amzad Hosain, had been stalking his daughter for long.
Rocky, already married, proposed the Class IX girl near a brick kiln to be his second wife.
Being refused, angry Rocky beat her mercilessly on the spot, police said.
