Rapists of Garo girl yet to be arrested

Twelve days into the incident, police are yet to arrest the rapists of a Garo schoolgirl in the district.

When the 13-year-old went to attend a programme of kirtan (devotional song) at Gubrakura village in Haluaghat upazila on the night of December 31, Ramzan Ali and Shafiuddin Gias allegedly waylaid her.

They raped the girl. She was later admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, said police.

The following day, the victim's father filed a case with Haluaghat Police Station, accusing Ramzan, 16, and Shafiuddin, 19.

They are raiding different areas to arrest the culprits, said Kamrul Islam Miah, officer-in-charge of the PS.
