2 ‘fugitives JMB men’ held in Mohammadpur

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed to have arrested two operatives of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Mohammadpur of Dhaka early today.

The detainees Md Shoheb Sheikh alias Shohaib, 31, and Rafiqul Islam alias Rafiq, 30, are fugitives of a case filed on May 31 with Tejgaon Police Station under Anti-Terrorism Act, according to a press release issued by the elite force.

Acting on a tip-off, Rab-2 members conducted a drive near Rayer Bazar Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mohammadpur around 12:10am last night and nabbed the duo, the release said.

A foreign pistol, four rounds of bullets and a machete were also recovered from their possession, it stated.
