Rape of minor girl, 12 sued

A man has been charged with raping a six-year-old girl while 11 others have been accused of trying to cover up the incident at Buruil village in Nandigram upazila. The victim's mother filed a case with Nandigram Police Station on Sunday, said Shawkat Kabir, inspector of the PS.  The accused include Ayej Uddin, 52, and village arbitrators Abdul Hamid, 55, Helal Uddin, 45, Mojibur Rahman, 38, and Alhaz Uddin, 42. Of them, Mojibur Rahman, son of Moynal Ali of the village, was arrested. According to the case statement, Ayej Uddin picked up the girl from a field where she went to bring their cattle back home on May 21. He took the girl to a nearby farmland and raped her. Later, some villagers arranged an arbitration to cover up the incident.
