During Ramadan, regular office timing will be curbed into six-and-half-hour shifts starting from 9:00am and ending at 3:30pm, the government decided today.

The decision was taken at a regular cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Cabinet Secretary M Shafiul Alam later briefed reporters.

Courts will decide their own working schedule, he said.

Ramadan, a month of fasting for Muslims ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, is expected to begin from June – according to the sighting of the moon.
