Heavy rain is likely to continue at most places of the country except Rangpur till Monday evening, according to met officials.

However, the people who are preparing to return to the capital and other cities after celebrating the Eid-ul-Fitr in their respective villages and hometown need not to worry much as the wind is not strong enough to disrupt the communication, they added.

Kamrul Hasan, meteorologist of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, told UNB that moderate to moderately heavy rainfall will prevail in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chitagong and Sylhet and Rajshahi divisions till Monday evening.

The wind is blowing below 60km per hour at most places that is not strong enough to disrupt the plying of ferry or launch on rivers, he said adding that the department has advised to hoist cautionary signal no 1, which implies small boats and trawlers must remain anchored on shores.

Despite rainy weather over the last couple of days, Muslims across the country have been celebrating the vacation of Eid-ul-Fitr with much fervour from Saturday morning.

Many of them left Dhaka and other cities for their respective villages and hometowns to celebrate the occasion with their relatives.
