Rain to continue for next 24hrs

The ongoing moderate rainfall with gusty wind is likely to continue till tomorrow in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country as a low is prevailing in the Bay.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall may also occur at most places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions for the next 24 hours, , according to a weather forecast of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The temperature of day and night time may fall slightly over the country, it adds.

It states that the low pressure area over Northwest Bay off Odisha coast and adjoining area now lies over Northwest Bay off Gangetic West Bengal - Bangladesh coast and adjoining area.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, the centre of the low and thence northeastwards to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong elsewhere over North Bay, the forecast adds.
