Law enforcers today claimed arrest of five militants of the Harkat-Ul-Jihad in Chittagong’s Pahartali area and seizure of arms and explosives from them.

They were primarily identified as: Taijul Islam, Nazim Uddin, Md Hafez Abu Zafar, Nur-e-Alam, and Ibtisham Ahmed, our local correspondent reports.

Twelve improvised explosives (IED), two pistols, nine magazines, 167 rounds of ammunition, and religiously inciting books in large volumes were seized from them.

“They are all aides of Huji chief Mufti Mainul Islam,” Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of Rapid Action Battalion’s media wing, said in a press briefing held after the haul.

Taijul and Nazim were caught from AK Khan intersection around 5:00am. Based on information from them, Rab raided a “militant den” in Pahartali’s Uttar Katatali area.

After four hours of drive, three “Huji militants” were detained there. The explosives and arms-ammunition were seized from the flat they were residing, Rab said.
