All sorts of quota privileges in public service will be revoked, BCL central committee secretary SM Jakir Hossain said quoting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“We have met the prime minister and she said there will be no quota privileges in public service,” Jakir said at a press briefing at Madhur Canteen on Dhaka University campus around 2:00pm after holding a meeting with the prime minister.

Around 9:00am, a delegation of the ruling party’s student front went to Gono Bhaban and conveyed the demands of the agitating students to reform quota system in BCS and other government service recruitment process.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to talk over the issue in the parliament this evening, the party insiders said.

Contacted, Nurul Haque, joint convener of Bangladesh Shadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad, said they would continue their demonstration until and unless a specific declaration comes from the prime minister.
