Attorney General Mahbubey Alam today hoped that the capital punishment of war criminal Mir Quasem Ali will be upheld in the Supreme Court judgement.

The Appellate Division of the SC is set to deliver its verdict on the appeal of Quasem Ali tomorrow, the AG said while talking to reporters at his office.

The SC will deliver the verdict on the basis of statements of witnesses, evidence and documents, the AG said, adding that the politicians’ remarks about the trial proceedings will not affect the verdict.

Meanwhile, Qasem Ali’s lawyer Khondokar Mahbub Hossain also expressed hopes that his client will get justice from the SC tomorrow.

He said they will accept the apex court judgement.

Khondokar Mahbub said the apex court has been undermined due to the comments of the two ministers. He hoped that the apex court will take action against them.
